Using HDRI, Particle systems and volume scattering, I created this jungle scene to practise environment creation in Blender.
Using nurbs pathing, I created trees of different thicknesses. I used texturing on the materials, and a height ramp technique to make the materials gradient to another tone depending on their height. This gives everything some variety, like how the ground gets more brown the lower it is. You can see this on the edge of the pond.
I don't love the water, I feel like next time I could make it more realistic. I was trying to go for a still water vibe, but it's too still.
More trees might have been better, since it's a jungle like environment. But I decided to leave it as is, and move onto my next piece with the stuff I learned from this piece.
I used photoshop to compress the image a tad (was too large for artstation)
